No more dead batteries

Dear Eugene,

Where is the best place to store spare batteries to ensure the longest shelf life?

Signed,
Drained

Dear Drained,

In the old days it used to be the refrigerator, but with all the technological advances this is no longer true.
For most modern batteries the best place to store them is somewhere that has a constant “room” temperature. Nothing is worse than a device running out of power right in the middle of a job, so you might want to keep them close at hand – like in your bedside table. That is where I keep my extras for my reading light.
